SESSION A: Teaching Critical Thinking in an ELL Classroom
Participants will learn strategies for increasing listening and reading comprehension using factual texts, activating and building prior knowledge, reading/talking/thinking through text to access content, and extending language through academic vocabulary and increasingly complex written texts.


SESSION B: Engaging Students in Maths
The session will cover teaching maths effectively in English including vocabulary development strategies to engage and connect students to math, strategies to support students to process ideas and construct meaning, higher order thinking techniques, strategies to develop mental computation skills, and how to integrate technology for teachers and students.
